Saudi Ministry of Health program
Healthcare Accessibility Intelligence
Location-to-hospital pairs
Business Problem
National planners had no defensible way to answer a basic question: how far do citizens actually travel to reach care, and which areas are underserved? Straight-line distance estimates were misleading, and no infrastructure existed to compute real travel times at national scale.
What I Built
Integrated the OSRM routing engine with the Ministry's Impala/Hive big data infrastructure to batch-compute real driving distance and travel time between population locations and hospitals, then delivered catchment-area and underserved-area intelligence on top of the results.
Scale
50M+ location-to-hospital pairs computed across all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia.
Outcome
Government entities, providers, and investors gained evidence-based accessibility intelligence now used for infrastructure planning and resource allocation, replacing assumptions with measured travel reality.
